Finmeccanica North America is the U.S. headquarters for Finmeccanica SpA, a global aerospace, defense, and transportation holding company headquartered in Italy that is comprised of many operating companies, each with its own specialization. The Group’s major programs of record include providing the C-27J Joint Cargo Aircraft (in conjunction with L-3 Communications) to the U.S .Army and U.S. Air Force; the G-222 aircraft to the Afghanistan National Army Air Corps, and the license plate reader to The U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Finmeccanica’s group companies are also leading suppliers and partners for many U.S. programs.. For example, DRS provides power and network systems, machinery controls, gas turbine packaging and propulsion integration support for LCS-1 and LCS-3, two of the U.S. Navy’s new, stealthy Littoral Combat Ships. DRS also supplies combat and tactical wheeled vehicle operators with Driver’s Vision Enhancer (DVE), which gives them unparalleled flexibility to conduct day/night operations or maneuver in severely degraded visual conditions caused by smoke, fog, dust or other battlefield obscurants.
In the commercial sector, Finmeccanica is a leading manufacturer of civilian helicopters, communications systems, as well as high speed rail cars and signaling systems, and is a key supplier of advanced aerostructures for commercial aircraft.
